  • The Dolphins play the Chargers in NFL Week 1 on Sunday, September 10 in Inglewood, California
  • Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert goes up against Miami’s new-look defense
  • Read below for analysis and our favorite Dolphins vs Chargers prop bets

It’s been a year since Justin Herbert faced the Miami Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa did not have one of his finer efforts while Herbert torched the Dolphins for 367 yards. What will happen on Sunday? Okay, let’s read on for some Dolphins vs Chargers Props.

That game played last season may not have as much relevance when it comes to player prop betting analysis. Again, Vic Fangio takes over the Miami defense, who gave up huge chunks of yards. Los Angeles ranked 21st overall on defense and it will be interesting to see how Tagovailoa looks after his concussion issues from 2022.

As they meet on Sunday, it’s the Chargers that are set as 3-point favorites in the contest. This game will kickoff at 4:25pm ET on Sunday, September 10 at SoFi Field in Inglewood, California. The weather forecast is calling for Mostly Cloudy skies, 12 mph winds and a temperature of 84 degrees. CBS Network is carrying the broadcast in the US, with streaming available through fuboTV. DAZN is carrying the game in Canada.

Let’s look at the best Dolphins vs Chargers Week 1 player props and scoring props available below for your Miami vs Los Angeles picks.

Herbert is listed at 1.5 in his passing touchdown total in the table above, while Tagovailoa is also listed at 1.5. Tyreek Hill has the highest receiving yardage prop in the NFL player props at 82.5.

Dolphins vs Chargers Prop #1: Justin Herbert Over 26.5 Completions

With Kellen Moore running the offense, expect Justin Herbert to still throw the ball quite a bit. Even against the Vic Fangio-coached defense of Miami, Herbert will have his chances. No one expects him to throw the ball 51 times, but Herbert. The Chargers signal-caller attempted 699 passes last season. In that time, he only completed less than 27 passes seven times last season. That -120 number on the over is reasonable enough to take a shot on this weekend.

Herbert, before a bit of a late-season swoon, was approaching completing 70% of his passes. He attempted 41.1 passes per game last season. If he comes close to that and has around the same percentage, that translates to 28 passes completed at least. Also, with Moore as offensive coordinator, 25 touchdowns this year will be quite low. The completions prop is reasonable along with the touchdown prop on Sunday afternoon from Inglewood, California.

Pick: Justin Herbert over 26.5 completions (-120), 1 unit.

Dolphins vs Chargers Prop #2: Gerard Everett First Touchdown

When it comes to Week 1 of the NFL season, Gerard Everett becomes an intriguing choice for first touchdown. Miami’s defense gave up its fair share of yards to Tight Ends last year. Also, Moore liked to use his Tight Ends early and often. Everett can get open down the middle and hold on to the ball.

Again, Miami’s defense may not be quite up to what Vic Fangio is used to. Early on, that means a good matchup with a solid number.

Picks: Gerard Everett first touchdown (+1300), 1 unit. Gerard Everett anytime touchdown (+205), 1 unit)

Dolphins vs Chargers Scoring Props

Player Odds to Score First TD Odds to Score Any TD
Austin Ekeler (LAC) +390 -230
Raheem Mostert (MIA) +850 +110
Keenan Allen (LAC) +950 +140
Tyreek Hill (MIA) +950 +115
Mike Williams (LAC) +1000 +145
Jaylen Waddle (MIA) +1100 +140
Gerald Everett (LAC) +1300 +205
Justin Herbert (LAC) +1600 +275
Quentin Johnston (LAC) +1900 +330
Braxton Berrios (MIA) +1900 +275
Joshua Palmer (LAC) +1900 +340

Dolphins vs Chargers Prop #3: Ekeler a Receiving Target

Justin Herbert likes Austin Ekeler out of the backfield. The connection was insane last year as Ekeler caught a whopping 107 passes. He did not average a lot of yards, but the receptions were there. Averaging more than six catches a game early remains a possibility. Whether he gets to yardage props is a different matter. What matters here is the catches.

Honestly, there is risk because some believe Herbert will throw less to Ekeler. What may happen instead is Ekeler gets turned loose for more yards. One can bet either way here but the yards are a nice wager for your Dolphins vs Chargers picks.

Pick: Austin Ekeler over 32.5 yards receiving (-115), 1 unit.

Dolphins vs Chargers Prop #4: Cameron Dicker Over 1.5 Field Goals

This prop is worth a look as Los Angeles might kick a few cheap field goals on Sunday. Cameron Dicker booted an average of 1.9 field goals per game in ten games with the Chargers last year. He gets 2023 off to the right start err boot.

Picks: Cameron Dicker Over 1.5 Field Goals (+105), 1 unit, Over 7.5 Kicker Points (+110), 1 unit.
