The Dallas Mavericks extended the Western Conference Finals with their Game 4 win. The reward is another trip to San Francisco – Jason Kidd’s team are seven-point underdogs for Game 5 as the Golden State Warriors look to close out the series at the second time of asking.
It’s not the first time the Warriors have missed an opportunity to close out a series. For all their dominance over the years, they have regularly let Game 4 slip when they’ve had a 3-0 lead. They have been ruthless when it comes to sealing the Gentleman’s Sweep, though.

Odds as of May 26 at FanDuel Sportsbook
Favored in NBA Championship odds, it would be an historic collapse for the Warriors to lose this series. Still, they could do with wrapping things up before they have to go back to Dallas, and a big part of that will be keeping Luka Doncic quiet, who has a mammoth 34.5 points line for Game 5.
Draymond Contributes on Offense
Draymond Green’s lack of offense has been a focus of criticism throughout his career and particularly so in these playoffs. Green has quietly stepped up on that end of late, reaching double figures in scoring in four of his last five games. The former Defensive Player of the Year has got up 18 shots across the last two, and notched five free throw attempts in Game 4.
Draymond will finish a wide open layup and hit you with a mean mug.

Throughout his career, Green has had a knack for upping his offense when it matters most. He scored 11 to close out Denver and 14 to close out Memphis. Go back to 2019, and he scored 10 or more in every Finals game, put up 18 to seal the sweep against Portland, and 16 to see off the Clippers in the first round. His offense has regressed since then, but we have seen flashes of Green’s previous aggressiveness on offense.
Dallas has switched smaller defenders onto him frequently, and the Dubs have been quick to take advantage. His fake handoff game with Golden State’s shooters remains a source of easy points. The Mavericks’ subpar rim protection has occasionally offered an easy path to the basket, and he’s been found with interior passes from drives.

With so much attention afforded to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, Dallas is content to let Green put up a few points. Golden State will be locked in as they aim to close it out in Game 5. We like the points over here.
- Pick: Draymond Green over 8.5 points (-112)
Brunson Delivers on the Road Again
Jalen Brunson is averaging 21.1 points and 4.7 rebounds on the road this postseason. He’s coming off a 31 and seven performance in Game 4 and dropped 24 and six to close out the Phoenix Suns in Game 7. There was a 21 and seven in Game 5 against the Suns, too.
Brunson is comfortable on the road. His 23.5 points and rebounds line has been passed in six of nine road games in the playoffs. The importance of his scoring is clear, particularly when the Warriors are sending extra bodies at Luka Doncic on almost every possession. He gets a lot of opportunities to attack when the Dubs go to a zone, and he’s a sneakily useful rebounder given how the Mavs have struggled on the glass at times.

Overall, Brunson is averaging 17.7 field goal attempts per game in the postseason. Doncic, Steph Curry, Jayson Tatum and Jimmy Butler are the only remaining players averaging more. While those figures are skewed slightly from Doncic sitting out the start of the first round, Brunson still has his moments to run the offense when leading the second unit alongside Spencer Dinwiddie.
Brunson has gone over 23.5 points and rebounds in 11 of 17 games. With his success on the road, there’s value backing him to do so for a 12th time on Thursday night.
- Pick: Jalen Brunson over 23.5 points and rebounds (-125)
