Mavericks vs Warriors Injury Report

The Mavs will once again be without Anthony Davis. The centerpiece coming back in the Luka Doncic trade suffered an adductor strain in his first game with Dallas on February 8th, and hasn’t played since. The hole down the middle is amplified thanks to more big men injuries.

The Mavericks are also missing centers Daniel Gafford, Derrick Lively and Dwight Powell. That’s pushed P.J. Washington to the 5 spot, which is a tall task for someone who stands only 6’6″. Luckily for the Mavericks, the Warriors don’t have a dominant big man to worry about. Golden State fields one of the smallest lineups in the league, which should suit Dallas just fine.

Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors Predictions

  • Dallas Mavericks +8 (-108) at Caesars

Golden State is fresh off a 132-108 win over Sacramento, in a game they shot 54% from the field. They buried 20 threes, and got 20+ points from four different players. Steph Curry became the first Warrior in team history with 700 20+ point games, while Butler made some history of his own.

Butler is the fastest player in Warriors history to reach 100+ points, 25+ rebounds and 25+ assists. Golden State ranks sixth in offensive rating since his arrival, and are starting to resemble an NBA Championship odds contender. The Dallas defensive unit isn’t one to fear, as they rank 17th in scoring defense, and yield the 11th most threes.

As for the Mavs offense, they’ve held their own since AD went down. Dallas has won three straight, including a 111-107 victory over the Warriors two weeks ago. Kyrie Irving splashed 42 points in that contest, and is fresh off a 35-point effort on Friday versus the Pelicans.

Dallas ranks top-11 in offensive rating and true shooting percentage this month. They get to the line at a top-five rate, and they’re the 10th most efficient shooting team. Their biggest weakness is down the middle, and that won’t be an issue versus Golden State.

Expect this game to be decided on the perimeter, with both teams finding plenty of offensive success. Dallas has been a cover machine as of late, and 8 points is too high of a number to lay against them. The Mavs have beaten the spread in seven straight outings, and boast a 58% cover rate an an underdog.

Pick: PJ Washington Over 16.5 Points (-110)

Switching over to the player props market, where over 16.5 points for PJ Washington is our target. Washington has seen a huge role increase with all the Dallas center injuries, and he’s taken advantage.

The 26-year-old has 17+ points in seven of his last eight games. The lone game he fell under that number, he left after just 16 minutes. In the other seven contests, he’s well north of 30 minutes and double-digit shot attempts. He’s had at least 17 attempts in five of his last eight starts, and at least 13 in the other three games.

We can safely project 30+ minutes and 13+ shot attempts versus the Warriors, and with no dominant big to slow him down, he should clear this number.
