  • We’re staring down the barrel of a very aggressive eight-game NBA slate on Saturday, March 8, 2025

Saturdays always feel good. It’s been that way since I was a kid and honestly, I don’t have a really good explanation as to why. At the end of the day, Saturday is just another day. But it’s not. Especially this Saturday because we’re starring down the barrel of one of the better NBA slates I’ve seen in a while. Maybe not for fans (outside of the Lakers/Celtics game), but from a gambler’s perspective, this slate is glorious. Given all of the March lineup shuffling going on, the books have no idea how to price this stuff. We’re in a great spot. Here are two of my favorite NBA player prop bets for tonight.

Best NBA Player Prop Picks (March 8)

Player Points Assists Pick
Zion Williamson (Pelicans) 23.5 (Ov -114 / Un -114) 4.5 (Ov -144 / Un +108) 6+ Assists (+146)
Player Points Assists Pick
Davion Mitchell (Heat) 8.5 (Ov -130 / Un +100) 4.5 (Ov -154 / Un +120) 6+ Assists (+120)

NBA Player Prop Pick #1: Point Zion?

When we think of Zion Williamson, we think of power. He’s a big dude that is simply too powerful for a single man to stop. No matter where he gets the ball, if he wants to get to the rim, he’s getting there. That’s just how he rolls.

But just the other night, he did something we’ve never seen him do. He posted a triple-double. What is that about?

Here’s the thing with Zion, if you’ve been paying attention, he’s been play-making for a bit now. Just last season is the first time I really noticed that he looked like a point guard at times. What’s crazy is, he’s actually really good at that role.

Over his last four games, Zion has recorded at least six assists in three of them. Over that span, he’s averaging 15.3 potential assists per game which is a very healthy number for a guy that only needs six to cash a +146 banger. I’m not math guy but he doesn’t even half to convert half of his potentials in order for us to stuff a bunch of cash in our pockets.

Now the haters are going to say that Zion just played the Rockets and only ended up with three assists but as usual, the haters are being short-sighted. We need vision in this game we play and they lack that vision. What they’re forgetting is, Zion had 11 potential assists last time which is plenty. We only need six assists here people. Feels easy.

NBA Player Prop Prediction #2: Davion Mitchell Is Dropping Dimes

Obviously, the assist market is my favorite one for NBA. I’m a big team guy and I’ve always respected people helping people. That’s why Davion Mitchell has made his way onto my radar.

At this point, he’s a borderline Circle of Trust guy who should see plenty of playing time in Miami if Terry Rozier continues his downward spiral.

The Miami Heat need a true point guard and I think they have that in Mitchell. He allows Tyler Herro to be the super scorer he is which is huge. That team has been through a lot this season with the Jimmy Butler saga so it’s nice to seem them coming out the other side. Mitchell has been a big part of that process.

Over his last five games, Mitchell has been commanding the Heat offense like never before. He’s gone for 6+ assists in all five of those games except one. In the lone exception, he finished with five. The best part is, he’s averaging 10 potential assists over that span. In his last outing, he finished with 13.

The Heat host the Chicago Bulls tonight who are a perfect “assist” team. They fly up and down the court at one of the fastest paces in the NBA. On top of that, they’re dead last in the entire NBA in assists per game to the point guard position this season. We only need six out of Davion tonight. Feels easy.

  • The Bet: Davion Mitchell 6+ Assists (+120) – DraftKings
