NC State Betting Trends

A once promising season has taken a turn for the worst for the NC State Wolfpack.

An injury has changed the trajectory of NC State’s entire year. Losing starting quarterback Devin Leary has proven to be a death knell for this squad. The junior from New Jersey had thrown for over 1200 yards and looked set to lead this team to a bowl berth at worst before suffering a torn pectoral in the Wolfpack’s win versus Florida State.

Backup Jack Chambers looked discombobulated in the pocket against Syracuse in Week 7. Managing the game while throwing for 158 yards and failing to lead the Wolfpack to a touchdown drive.

However, all is not lost for NC State. The Wolfpack defense is a top unit, allowing just over 330 total yards of offense per game. Linebackers Drake Thomas and Payton Wilson lead a sturdy group that does surrender points easily. A floundering Virginia Tech offense will struggle to score in this one.

That being said, the betting trends do not like NC State in this one. The Wolfpack are 0-4 against the spread in their last 4 games overall. Additionally, NC State is 0-4 in their last four games played against ACC competition.

Virginia Tech Betting Trends

Sitting at just 2-5, 2022 looks to be a lost season for the Hokies.

The Virginia Tech offense has been putrid this year, averaging just 4.2 yards per play. Further, Virginia Tech’s offense generates just 298 total yards per game this season. Moreover, the Hokies put up just 17.8 points per game. Laying any money on this terrible offense is a recipe for disaster.

Having said that, the defense has shown promise, holding opponents under 110 rushing yards in 4 of 6 games.

Since joining the ACC, Virginia Tech is 5-1 against the ACC, with four consecutive victories of double-digit margins. However, the Hokies are hard to rely on in any betting sense. Virginia Tech are 0-5 against the spread in their last five games following an against the spread win.

NC State vs Virginia Tech Pick

A conference matchup featuring one great defense and two terrible offenses is a great spot to bet the under.

Besides, the under is 6-1 in the Hokies last 7 games overall. On the other side, the under has hit in 17 of the Wolfpacks’ last 20 games played on Thursday nights. Keep it simple and bet the under here.

Pick: NC State vs Virginia Tech UNDER 40 (-110)
